Boy Oh Boy It's a BOY!!!

Vince and I are thrilled to announce we will be adding a little baby boy to our family!  We could not be more excited.  The little guy was sitting indian style during the ultra sound and moving around like crazy!  He also gave us a few waves and swollowed a couple of times.  I think he was showing off.  Of course I had to go out and buy one little baby boy outfit after the ultra sound.  It is a little Polo Ralph Lauren stripped onsie.  So cute! 

We had a wonderful time relaxing and laughing with friends and soaking up some sunshine in beautiful Mexico last week.  The weather was perfect the entire time we were their and of course we came home to rain, rain and more rain in PA.  Oh well, we are glad to be home and to know we have a little baby boy.  In Mexico Nationwide gave us a private concert with Colbie Caillat so that was really neat to experience.  Check out some pictures below from our Mexican vacation.

Next week I am finally going to be starting my student teaching and am really looking forward to it.  I will be in a first grade classroom and am going to meet the teacher and students tommorow.  I will be doing my student teaching for 12 weeks so it is going to work out perfectly with the arrival of our little guy. 

Vince and I are also thrilled to be going to Hilton Head for a week with our parents and my sister over Easter.  We haven't seen them since Christmas so getting to visit with them for an entire week is going to be wonderful.  We miss them!

Mexico Here We Come at 20 Weeks!

The last several weeks have been somewhat uneventful for Vince and I.  We of course were blessed with more snow and more cold weather.  We are looking forward to heading to Cancun for a week and relaxing on the beach. I think the only thing that will drag us back from the beaches of Mexico is knowing the next day we will get to find out the sex of baby Jenkins.  I did have the opportunity get out of the cold weather for about 4 days and head to Florida to visit with my wonderful grandma and sister.  I hadn't seen either one of them since Christmas so we had some catching up to do. 

We had our 20 week check-up today, March 5th.  Thankfully, everthing still looks wonderful.  When the Dr. was trying to find the heartbeat she said the little one was moving around like crazy.  I don't know if that is a sign of what we are in for or not.  I have begun filling some small kicks from the little one.  It is exciting to feel them now but I am sure at 9 months they might not feel so exciting anymore.  I will have to wait and see on that one!

This week I put Vince to work on his first nursery job.  He had the wonderful priviledge of putting a new closet system in the baby's room.  The closet before just wasn't that functional because it only had one shelf.  The baby's closet now has baskets, drawers and hanging space.  I love it and I am sure the baby will too!  Thanks Vince!!!! Oh, and I think I forgot to mention from a previous post, Vince won the battle of where the baby's room would be.  I guess I shouldn't say it was a battle but we mutually decided that the spare bedroom would be more condusive for the baby furniture than his office.   He got lucky on this one!

For now that is about all the baby's news I have.  Check back on March 15th for the big suprise!  Our appointment is at 8am!

This week has been an adventourous week for Vince and I as you can see.  We headed to Austin, TX on February 5th to make a long weekend out of a business trip Vince had.  Turns out, we got stuck in Austin for a couple extra days because of all the snow that hit Pennsylvania on Friday/Saturday and again on Wednesday.  Suprisingly we ended up getting in around 5pm the following Thursday, even though Dallas Texas got hit with 12 inches of snow that day.  When we arrived home it was truly a winter wonderland.  We litteraly had to shovel our way into the house.  Vince spent Thursday night shoveling the driveway and I went on the hunt in the 30+ inches of snow for our mailbox that had disappeared.  We then spent our Saturday morning shoveling our very long sidewalk and front porch so we no longer looked like the lazy neighbors that hadn't shoveled anything. 

While in Texas we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on February 10th.  It is hard to believe we have been married for 3 years, together for 11 and will soon be adding an addition to our family.  I ask myself everyday why I am so lucky to be blessed with a wonderful family, amazing husband and soon to be baby.  We count our blessings everyday to be given such wonderful lives. 

We made it home for my 17 week checkup just in time.  I found out at my appoitment that my blood type is O Negative which is somewhat rare and a little more difficult when it comes to a pregnancy and especially future pregnancies.  Since I am O Negative I will receive a shot at 28 weeks called Rho-gam.  As soon as the little one is born they will test his/her blood and if the baby has a positive blood type I will be given another Rho-gam shot to prevent my blood from being tanted for future pregnancies.  Since I am O Negative my body builds anitbodies that can attack a second, third, etc. pregnancy if the baby is positive.  This shot will prevent any future babies I have blood from mixing with my blood and will allow my body to not reject future pregnancies.  This was news to Vince and I because I had never heard of it before and didn't even know my blood type until Friday.  If this is the least of my worries during this pregnancy I will feel like one lucky girl!

The next several weeks will be quite adventurous for the baby, Vince and I.  I will be leaving Thursday, February 18th to go visit grandma Huffman and my sister Erin in Florida.  We will then be leaving again on March 6th to spend a long relaxing 8 days in Cancun, Mexico.  I think we are both hoping that when we arrive back in Philly most of the snow will be gone but we aren't going to hold our breath.

The day before we leave for Cancun we will be heading back to the Doctor for my 20 week checkup.  We will have one thing to look forward to coming home from Cancun and that is finding out if baby Jenkins is a handsom little boy or precious little girl (March 15th @ 8am).  Everyone seems to have their predictions so we shall see who is right. I truly have no idea but Vince seems to think it is a girl but keeps calling it a "he" so who knows!  We will be thrilled with whatever God blesses us with.  Check back on March 15th for the exciting news!

2nd Appoitment. . . . . .

Vince and I went to our second doctors appointment yesterday and everything looks great.  We met with a different doctor this time, Dr. Friedman.  He has quite the personality and was cracking on me from the moment he walked in the door.  Vince and Dr. Friedman hit it off immediatley when Ohio State football was brought up.  He attended OSU for a short time and said there is no other band or stadium like Ohio State's.  Of course we had to agree. 

This appointment was very short.  We got to hear the little ones heartbeat which always puts a big smile on Vince and I's face.  The OBGYN I am going to has 9 different doctors and I have chosen to try to schedule all of our appointments with different ones so we can meet each doctor and get to know them a little better.  This is important to us since we don't know who will be on call when the little one decides to arrive. 

Everything else is going really good for Vince and I.  We have been traveling to Wellston, Jackson, Columbus, Hilton Head and Florida for a little over 3 weeks so it was really nice to get home and get back to our normal schedules.  We had an amazing Christmas visiting with family and friends and had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of Billie and Bart's wedding.  Congrats Billie and Bart!

Most of you know how I am and could guess that I am getting over anxious about starting to prepare the nursery but, I am trying to hold myself back for a few more months.  The actual room the nursery will be in is still up for debate.  Vince and I have a little different viewpoint of which room it should be.  I am trying to kick him out or I guess I should say relocate his office to one of the spare bedrooms.  He isn't a big fan of that idea but in the end, because of the nice guy he is, he will let me put the nursery wherever I want.

I have still been feeling really good but was pretty tired while we were traveling.  Since we have been back I feel like I have so much more energy which is great.  I have continued to keep my workouts going but I am struggling with not being permitted to do my normal ab workout that I love.  This little one is worth it though. 

Our next appointment is on our 3rd anniversary, February 10th so check back for some more updates.

The BIG News. . . . . . . . . .

Vince and I are thrilled to announce and truly feel blessed that we are going to be welcoming a baby Jenkins into our family at the end of July. We couldn't be happier about what the future holds for our soon to be larger family. Our exact due date is July 25th but we all know how that date probably will change because the little one will come whenever he or she is ready to.

We have already had our 8 week checkup and we got to see his/her little heartbeat. I have to admit I was one happy lady when I saw that little heart beating rapidly. The doctor said everything looks great and we have our 2nd appointment on January 11th and another one on February 10th.

So far I have been feeling good. I have been somewhat tired and weeks 4, 5 & 6 I had some nausea but most of that has come to an end. Keep checking back and we will keep everyone up to date on the growth of our little one!

The Beginning . . . . . . . .

As most of you know Vince and I have been together for some time now, 10 years to be exact. Vince and I met when I was a junior in High School and he was going off to college. Vince started off his college career at Shawnee State University and then went on to continue his education at Morehead State University where he played football. I graduated from High School in 2001 and decided to attend Capital University and played on the women's golf team. After college I went to work for the Capital Club in downtown Columbus, Ohio as their Membership Director and Vince started his career out at the American Cancer Society. After a year at the Cancer Society Vince moved on to work for Nationwide Financial.

After many years of dating Vince asked me to marry him in August of 2006 and we were married on February 10, 2007 at Broad Street Presbyterian Church and held our reception at Columbus Country Club. Vince and I bought our first home in 2006 in German Village, Ohio. Vince and I resided in Columbus for several years until recently when Vince accepted a promotion with Nationwide Financial as an External Wholesaler. We made the move to Downingtown, Pennsylvania in October of 2008. I am currently going back to school to receive my teaching certificate where I will be certified to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. I am looking forward to starting my student teaching in March and beginning my teaching career.
